The Bill :: Smithy's Women

Nurse Kelly Ashmore: Played by Katy Odey
Episode: Zero Tolerance

Whilst called to investigate a prowler around St Hugh's nurses home, Smithy found himself attracted to one of the nurses. After injuring himself whilst chasing the prowler, he limped back to Kelly's appartment and the two of them talked over a cup of tea and presumably made plans to see each other soon. At the pub that evening, Sgt Boyden has a word with Smithy and tells him that Kelly had been attacked by the prowler and Smithy charges out to go and see her.

Natasha Ivanova: Played by Elina Lowensohn.
Episode: Common Language.

During a night out with some of the other officers, Smithy was chatted up by Natasha and lead outside. Natasha had been paid to chat him up and was told that it was his birthday and some of his friends wanted to surprise him. On realising that she'd been lied to and the men were actually attacking Smithy, Natasha ran for help and the police were called. Smithy found himself becoming more involved with Natasha and discovered that she was an illegal immigrant from Russia who was terrified for her sister who was later discovered dead. Smithy eventually realised that the men responsible for the murder of Natasha's sister and also his assault were linked and traced back to Tony Mitchell, an old army friend that Smithy had helped lock up.

Cherry Alexander: Played by Ginny Holder
Episode: Bad Habits

Smithy arrested Cherry, little knowing she was actually a drugs rehabilitation worker, working on behalf of her client. When arriving at the station, Cherry made her position clear and was released. The two grew closer and Smithy and Cherry eventually went for a drink, dropping by Cherry's office after being discovered by some of his Sun Hill colleagues. About to kiss, they were distracted by a massive fireball engulfing the office and a masked man running out, assaulting Smithy in the process. Later, after being kidnapped by violent criminals, Smithy eventually rescued Cherry and was keen to persue their relationship, though Cherry knew the differences were too strong and walked out of his life

Lizzie: Played by Kate Steavenson-Payne
Episodes: The Night Before & The Morning After

Lizzie was assaulted by Frazer who was attempting to steal watches from the department store in which she worked. Taking her hostage, Frazer held her by her neck and eventually threw her to the floor, leaving Smithy to catch her and stay with her until she came round. As Smithy was about to leave, Lizzie came to find him and offered to let him take advantage of her staff discount and hence forth set himself up for big feet jokes! Inviting her to the Christmas party that night, Smithy spent most of the time in the queue kissing her, and the same again when a riot started out, the two found a quiet stairwell to kiss away from the chaos. However, after Christmas, Smithy was keen to avoid Lizzie after spending Boxing Day with her parents bored stiff. Explaining to Cass that he was just ignoring her and hoping she'd take the message, Cass invited Lizzie to the pub that night under the guise of her mate who was 'gagging for it', leaving Smithy to explain himself when the 'friend' turned out to be Lizzie.
